WAVE OVERVIEW

The Intermediate Split Peak is our first step into more advanced surfing while still being easy enough for riding foamy-style boards. This wave breaks from the middle of the lagoon and emerges from the caisson wall as one wave going right and one going left. It is designed for surfers who have become comfortable paddling and catching waves under their own power. The Intermediate wave offers a slightly larger and steeper face than the Beginner setting.

WAVE CHARACTERISTICS

The size of the wave is shoulder high on an average adult. Two sections of the wave feature a throwing lip, allowing guests to begin learning cutbacks and off-the-lips as a natural step in progression. This setting still features an easy takeoff like the Beginner waves, while speed increases from the middle of the ride to the end.

WAVE COMPLETION & FLOW

This wave finishes just past the caisson wall in about chest-deep water. Guests can either paddle back out along the wall or exit the lagoon and walk around the perimeter of the pool to the middle of the lagoon and rejoin the queue.

SKILL FOCUS

Taking off under your own power, speed control, and timing and placement of turns. Although this wave allows for higher- performance maneuvers, it is not the wave for a typical advanced-level surfer.

RECOMMENDED BOARDS

High-volume fish and fun-shape boards, plus foamies ranging from 7-9 feet in length.
