WAVE OVERVIEW

The expert single / split peak is everything high-performing surfer could ask for. The single peak breaks from one end of the lagoon to the other, while the split peak emerges from the middle of the lagoon and alternates right and left in offset fashion. Both settings feature more power, speed, and size than the lower-level waves. Takeoffs fare steep, and once the surfer is on their feet, the wave immediately begins reeling down the reef for an expert-level ride.

WAVE CHARACTERISTICS

These waves are slightly larger than head high on an average adult surfer. The increased power creates serious speed and allows surfers to push equipment and technique from start to finish. The single peak offers all maneuvers at any time and ends with a closeout section that can set up a finishing turn or air. The split peak features two sections designed for off-the-lips or one major carve, giving surfers multiple hiph-performance options.

WAVE COMPLETION & FLOW

The single peak ends following the end section, and if a floater is performed over the end section, kicking out as soon as possible is recommended. The split peak ends in the middle of the angled wall and surfers must kick out to avoid ending up on the beach. Guests can paddle back along the caisson wall or exit and walk around the perimeter of the lagoon to rejoin the waiting zone.

SKILL FOCUS

Linking high-performance maneuvers, airs, carves, cutbacks, harder turns, speed control, tum placement, and timing. Staying close to the pocket and surfing top to bottom are key to maximizine the wave.
